About this tool
Stream-copy cuts are fast but can only slice at keyframes, which is why clips from quick tools often start with a frozen or black half-second. This trimmer re-encodes with FFmpeg in your browser (WebAssembly), so the cut lands exactly where you set it and the output is a standard MP4 that plays everywhere — editors, phones, and YouTube uploads alike.
The engine downloads once (about 32 MB) and is then cached by your browser. Files are processed locally and never uploaded, so unreleased footage stays private. Practical uses: cutting Shorts out of long videos, removing dead air at the start of a recording, isolating a clip for a reaction video, or trimming a screen recording down to the useful part.
How to use it
- Choose the video — a preview appears so you can find your moments.
- Note the start and end seconds from the preview's timeline.
- Enter them and press Cut Clip.
- Play the result and download it.
Tips from real creator workflows
- Leave 0.2–0.3 seconds of air before speech starts so the clip doesn't feel clipped mid-breath.
- For Shorts, cut the single strongest 30–55 seconds rather than a summary of the whole video.
- Keep your cuts under a few minutes — in-browser encoding is happiest with clips, not full features.
Frequently asked questions
Will the quality drop?
The clip is re-encoded at CRF 23, which is visually near-identical for a single generation. It will not look like a re-uploaded copy.
Can I cut a 2-hour video?
You can load one, but in-browser memory makes short source clips far more reliable. Trim long recordings into parts with your editor first if the tab struggles.
Is anything uploaded?
No — the file is processed on your device by the in-browser FFmpeg engine.
